...a virus, that is! Last week (Wednesday, I believe), when I picked Reagan up from school, her teacher warned me that there is a nasty stomach virus making the rounds. I just knew Reagan was going to get it, too...but by Friday, she still hadn't had any symptoms and was feeling just fine. So, I breathed a sigh of relief!
Our weekend started off pretty good! Friday, Reagan got to wear her cheerleading uniform to school...which just thrilled her! Then, Friday night was the first football game...HCS vs. Starkville Academy. Hillcrest lost, but Reagan had a wonderful time! She is a Cougar Kitten and they got to release balloons at the start of the game and then got to go cheer with the "big girls" (aka Varsity Cheerleaders) for part of the second half! So, Reagan was on Cloud 9! And after the game we went to eat with my family. At that point, I could tell Reagan was tired and she barely ate a bite of her food...and she was VERY cranky! I figured it was just because she'd had a very long day and was tired, so I didn't really think much of it.
Saturday, she was doing ok, too! She spent most of the day with Andrew working on his dad's (Grampa's) 4-wheeler. Side Note: Can I just tell you how much I love my husband?!? He took care of Reagan pretty much all day on Saturday and gave me a much needed mommy break. Obviously, I still had Mallory to take care of...but she is much less "work" than Reagan. Don't get me wrong, I love playing with Reagan, but every now and then, I just need a little break. Don't all moms feel like that way at some point, though?
Then, Saturday night, Andrew watched both of them for me (again...love my hubby), while I went to Nagoya with my sisters. We had sushi and a movie planned, but we forgot about the storm coming through, so we decided to just do sushi. Although, we did go to Barnes & Noble for a little while as well.
When I got home, Reagan was in the tub and still seemed ok. Andrew said she didn't want her dinner, but she's just like that...sometimes she doesn't feel like eating...she's a BIG breakfast eater, but not so much on lunch and dinner...so, I didn't think anything of it!
When it came time to put her to bed, though, she told me she wasn't feeling well. She's got a little bit of fluid on her right ear, so I thought that's what was making her sick. I gave her some medicine and put her to bed.
Then at about 3 am, she came to our door with no pants one...uh-oh! I guess you can use your imagination to figure out which end the virus affected! LOL! So, I got her all cleaned up and put her back to bed. I guess I was so exhausted at that time of the morning that I didn't think about her being sick...I just figured she had an "accident" and that was that!
But then...at 6 am...Andrew (having already gotten up for the day apparently) came into the bedroom frantically asking where the Immodium was! haha! He does NOT do well in these "situations"! So, of course, I got up to help him. And let's just say that there was an explosion...EVERYWHERE! ahhhh...these are those moments of motherhood where you realize you must definitely love this little poop-covered (sorry if TMI) person in front of you...because there is NO way I'd clean up that mess for just any kid! Andrew later joked that he almost turned in his resignation during the clean up! LOL!
We did finally get it all cleaned up, though! Gave Reagan some medicine and put her to bed for the rest of the day! Or mostly anyway! She found little reasons to get out of bed throughout the day! I did feel bad...banishing her to her room all day...but I could NOT risk Mallory getting sick as well.
Unfortunately, it didn't seem to help...because last night...yep, you guessed it...Mallory had gotten the bug, too! Good news is, though, that it only seems to be a 24 hour thing. So, Reagan is fine now...although, I kept her home from school since she had fever yesterday morning. She wasn't too happy about that...since she LOVES school!
Now, I'm just focusing on keeping Mallory away from Reagan...so, we don't continue this vicious cycle...and getting Mallory well! Though, she hasn't had an "explosion" since this morning...so, hopefully, she's on the mend!
Keep us in your prayers...them for getting and staying well...and me for not going crazy while getting and keeping them well!
